The Amherst Town Board next month could vote to borrow up to $255,000 to pay for improvements to Dann Lake Park in the town's northeast corner.
It's the next step in the town's efforts to make it easier for people to fish, canoe or kayak on Dann Lake.
The 22-acre, man-made lake in the park is largely hidden from view. A developer in 2003 donated the land for the undeveloped park off Dann Road, between Smith and Transit roads.
Town officials are proposing to build a boardwalk and stone dust trails, a 14-space parking area, and a canoe and kayak launch and a fishing platform on the edge of the lake.
The town Planning Board this month approved the project's site plan application. Assuming the Town Board authorizes the bond, the town will put the project out to bid once it receives wetland permits from the state and federal governments.
