Beer news: Big Ditch, Woodcock Brothers, Buffalo Brewing, Muskoka

Big Ditch Packet returns

Big Ditch Brewing Company (55 E. Huron St.) is re-releasing its popular Packet, the first in its Lock IPA (India Pale Ale) Series. It coincides with the latest release of fresh cans of its award-winning Deep Cut Double IPA. Four-packs of the 16-ounce cans of both beers will be sold starting at 11 a.m. June 30 for $14.99. Both beers will have been canned within the last 24 hours before they go on sale. This release marks the last of Packet IPA that will be brewed for the foreseeable future, as some of the hops used in the beer (Galaxy, Mosaic and Pacific Jade hops) will no longer be available to the brewery. Call 854-5050.

New Belgian Wit from Woodcock Brothers

Woodcock Brothers Brewery (638 Lake St., Wilson) has released its summer seasonal, Belgian Wit, at its taproom. Described as a hoppy take on a witbier, the beer was brewed with loads of Citra hops to generate a big citrus punch in the aroma and flavor. Light and fluffy on the palate from the white wheat used in the mash, Belgian Wit comes in at 5 percent ABV. Call 333-4000.

Buffalo Brewing hosts new happy hour

Buffalo Brewing Company (314 Myrtle Ave.) is kicking off its Friday happy hour on June 30. From 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays through July, enjoy $1 off all pints. Food will be available from Carnivorous food truck. Call 868-2218.

Muskoka releases Summertime beer

Summertime Siesta is the latest beer to launched in the Moonlight Kettle Series from Muskoka Brewery in Bracebridge, Ont. Available in the Buffalo market, it's a 3.5 percent ABV beer described as a “sour beer with gentle bitterness.” Each of the Moonlight Kettle Series beers are brewed by one of Muskoka’s expert brewers paired with two non-brewer members of its staff. The trio then works together to come up with the unique beer style and name.
