A 48-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle Sunday night in the parking lot of Tops Markets in East Aurora, police said.
The woman was struck just before 10 p.m. as she was pushing a shopping cart back to her car, East Aurora Police Chief Shane Krieger said.
She was walking just a few feet from the supermarket's northernmost entrance when she was hit, Krieger said. Investigators said the woman was apparently struck by a vehicle driving in reverse.
The woman was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where she later died, police said. Authorities have not released her name.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as an 18-year-old man. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor, Krieger said.
No charges had been filed as of early Monday afternoon as police continue to investigate.
