SUMMER HOME – Now that the summer season has started at Chautauqua Institution, Center for the Study of Art, Architecture, History, Nature (C-SAAHN) founder Dennis Galucki is kicking off a weekly discussion group on the theme, “Art of Investing – In Life: Your Life and Your Community’s Life.” It meets from 4 to 5 p.m. every Monday through Aug. 21 in Smith Memorial Library, 21 Miller Ave., Chautauqua.

TASTY TOUR – The International Institute of Buffalo, 846 Delaware Ave., will celebrate World Refugee Day with “Eat the World,” a food truck party with an ethnic flavor from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $20 advance, $25 on Wednesday, and includes two beverage tickets.
Community Beer Works and Coca-Cola Buffalo Bottling will provide beverages. Music will be by the duo Deja2. The food trucks will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Institute. For tickets, visit

ALL WET – The Town of Niagara’s new $500,000 splash pad at Veterans’ Memorial Community Park will open Saturday, Town Supervisor Lee Wallace announces.
Parents can preregister children 12 and under from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Thursday in the Calvin K. Richards Senior/Youth Activity Center in Veterans’ Park at 7000 Lockport Road. Children will be given a free wristband, which must be worn on the splash pad.
Hours for the splash pad will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. all other days.
