Man who ran from Niagara Falls rollover crash charged with DWI

Police charged a Niagara Falls man with driving while intoxicated after a rollover crash Sunday night on Porter Road near Hyde Park Boulevard, according to a city police report.

Witnesses told police two men ran from the scene after a gold Cadillac Escalade flipped at about 8:10 p.m., the report said.

Police spotted two men matching their description a few blocks to the south, near Hyde Park and Weston Avenue. One man was brought back to the scene, where witnesses identified him as one of the men who fled. It was not clear from the police report what happened to the other man spotted by police.

Michael L. Sample, 31, of Frontier Avenue, failed field sobriety tests at police headquarters, according to police. He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, imprudent speed and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
