Emily Gawlak (Mount Mercy) of Hilbert College led all NCAA women’s lacrosse players with 10.93 draw controls in a game for the Hawks in the 2017 season. Pawlak was crowned the NCAA Division III champion in that statistic. Her average per game topped that of Division I champion Hannah Murphy of Massachusetts who had 10.10 controls per game.
A midfielder, Gawlak had 153 of Hilbert’s team total of 229 draw controls. She had double-digit draw controls in nine games. She was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and was a second team all-conference selections. In the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference she was Newcomer of the Year and a first team all-conference selection.
