Buffalo health center expands in Southtowns

A Buffalo nonprofit agency that runs health clinics has bought a long-vacant former supermarket in Blasdell and converted it into its fourth Buffalo Niagara location.

Neighborhood Health Center, formerly the Northwest Buffalo Community Health Care Center on Lawn Avenue, paid $1.1 million to buy the 34,898-square-foot retail store at 4233 Lake Ave. Formerly a Super Duper and then a Jubilee Foods store, the building was constructed in 1959 on 2.83 acres, at the corner of South Park Avenue.

Neighborhood Health Center offers ambulatory health care, wellness and related services to residents of underserved and other designated communities in the region. This is its fourth location in Erie County, alongside its main site at 155 Lawn Ave. in northwest Buffalo, as well as at 300 Niagara St. in Buffalo and 3674 Commerce Place in Hamburg.
