After finally ending their 10-game losing streak with a come-from-behind win in the series finale at Syracuse on Sunday, the Bisons open a nine-game home stand that will end with the traditional Independence Day Eve concert and fireworks on July 3. Time to get even: The Bisons were swept in three games last week in their first visit of the season to Rochester. In four of the six Rochester wins over Buffalo this season the winning pitchers were tonight's Red Wings starters. Lefty David Hurlbut is to 2-1 versus the Herd while right-hander Aaron Slegers is 2-0. Hurlbut ranks fourth in the league with his 3.36 earned run average.
Rochester center fielder Zack Granite leads the International League with a .360 batting average for 46 games. The Seton Hall University product also leads in on-base percentage (.415) and is second in OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) at .923.
The Red Wings have won nine of their last 11 games to climb to third place in the North Division of the I.L.. After winning three of four in Pawtucket, they swept the Bisons in three games last week then took three of four at home from the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs in a series which drew an official attendance of 26,366 for dates at Frontier Field over the weekend.
