COGHLAN - Elaine It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elaine Coghlan on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the age of 70. Elaine, a long-time resident of Cape Coral and Fort Myers, Florida, slipped away peacefully at the Fort Myers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Elaine was the daughter of Milan Smiljanich and Dolly Grubyesich Smiljanich. She grew up in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and later attended Finley College in Ohio where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health. In addition, she earned a Master's Degree from Niagara University and an Advanced Degree in Administration and Supervision from the State University of New York College. She taught Physical Education and Health in a variety of schools in and around the Buffalo, New York area and retired after 30 years of teaching from Buffalo State College Learning Lab Middle School. Not only was she a dedicated instructor of Physical Education and Health, but she also shared the responsibilities of coaching softball and basketball. Elaine's chosen career path was due to her love of children, and she will be remembered as one who always put her students first. Elaine loved Mah Jongg, movies, books and learning as well as her beloved husband Terry of 35 years who preceded her in death. She will be missed, but will live in our hearts forever. There will be a memorial held in her honor later this year at Colonial Country Club. Arrangements are under the direction of HODGES FUNERAL HOME AT LEE MEMORIAL PARK, Fort Myers, Florida, (239) 334-4880.
