BIGELOW - Brien J. Age 75, passed on to eternal life peacefully at his home in Whittier, CA on May 24, 2017 after a courageous battle with leukemia. His Funeral Service at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights, CA was on June 1, 2017. Born in Buffalo on April 7, 1942, Brien was the son of Robert and Mary (O'Brien) Bigelow. He graduated from Bishop Timon High School in 1959 and Cortland State University in New York in 1963. After college, Brien relocated to California and worked briefly as a school teacher and with Johnson & Johnson in the pharmaceutical industry. He then established a medical supply business known as National Hospital Packaging for which he served as Founder, President and CEO until the time of his death. Brien's greatest love and commitment was his cherished wife of 52 years, Eileen (Murphy) Bigelow, and to their six children and four of their children's spouses: Ruth (Mark), Brien, Matthew (Elizabeth), Kathryn, Nicholas (Sarah) and Timothy (Rebecca) and to their nine grandchildren Katy, Morgan, Suzanne, Shannon, Jolenne, Emily, Siobhan, Edward and Mary. Brien is survived by his stepmother, Regina M. (Schamann) Bigelow, Rev. William R. Bigelow, Col. (Ret.) Jane A. Bigelow, Paul J., Joyce M., Robert C., Regina A. Rhodes and Marie M. Kellner. He was preceded in death by his sisters Rosemary E. McMahon and Margaret M. Woodcock. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass for Brien which will be celebrated at the Mercy Center Chapel, 625 Abbott Rd., South Buffalo, on Wednesday morning June 28 at 10:30 AM.
