See what Hamburg's west end could look like in the future

Drawings of what Hamburg's west end and Lake Street corridor could look like will be on display Tuesday, June 27.

An open house will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department, 301 Union St.

Billed as "Underutilized Sites Strategy," the initiative is to create opportunities for repurposing and redeveloping underutilized Hamburg sites so developers don't bypass the village for alternative areas. The concept drawings reflect community input from a workshop and walking tour as well as input from other community stakeholders.

"The next step is to put prospectus documents together," said Paul Becker, special projects coordinator for the village.

The area could support new housing, retail and possibly light industrial, which would help increase the tax base grow the community, Becker said.

Results of the project also would be used by the village, investors and other agencies to obtain grant funding for strategic redevelopment projects.
