Former TV anchor to open indoor cycling complex

Former WGRZ-TV weekend anchor Erika Brason

Former WGRZ-TV weekend anchor Erika Brason is pedaling into a new career by opening an indoor cycling and fitness complex in Clarence this year.

Brason plans to open Rebel Ride Indoor Cycling & Strength at 6449 Transit Road, just north of Transit Valley Country Club. Brason's business will take up 3,500 square feet in The Abbey.

Immersive indoor cycling is similar to that offered by SoulCycle or Flywheel, which don't have any locations here, and it has a different atmosphere than a gym spinning class. The cycling theater will have about 40 cycles, stadium-style seating and special sensory lighting. A second studio will offer strength-training and core-building classes.

Brason expects to hire about 20 primarily part-time employees, and she is bringing in veteran out-of-town instructors to train her instructors. She anticipates spending $750,000 on the facility, equipment and employee training, and hopes to open by fall.
