Cricket Wireless has opened a new franchised store at 4251 Transit Road in Clarence.
The store is the fifth to open this year, after ones that opened in Depew in February, Cheektowaga and Main Street in March, and Niagara Street in April. They're part of an aggressive expansion effort launched by Cricket president John Dwyer last year, to add Cricket-branded authorized retailers across the country.
There are two company-owned Cricket stores on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga and at 2352 Delaware Ave.
The prepaid cellphone service company is a subsidiary of AT&T, which bought the Cricket brand from Leap Wireless in 2013 for $1.2 billion. Cricket Wireless is sold at roughly 400 outlets across the state, including GameStop, Best Buy, Sam's Club, Target, Walmart and 250 Cricket Wireless franchise stores.
