Sabres will return to Pegula's Penn State arena for preseason game

The Sabres will head from Pegulaville to Pegula Ice Arena for a preseason game against the Penguins on Sept. 19, squaring off against the defending Stanley Cup champions at the Penn State arena named for the Sabres' owner.

The Sabres will be the home team in State College, Pa., leaving three games in Buffalo on the six-game preseason slate, which was announced Monday.

Terry Pegula donated nearly $100 million to his alma mater to fund the construction of the ice rink and the creation of a Division I men's hockey program. The Sabres played the Wild at Pegula Ice Arena last September in a preseason game.

"After the success of last year’s game at Pegula Ice Arena, it was a natural fit to return for a second game," Sabres President Russ Brandon said in a release on Penn State's website. "Our team and staff were impressed by the facilities and we’re looking forward to the atmosphere the Penn State fans will bring to the game."
