Gun recovered in connection with shooting near Sedita Academy

The Buffalo Police Department confirmed in a tweet Monday that it had recovered a gun in connection with a shooting near Frank A. Sedita Academy on the city's West Side earlier in the day.

Sedita School #30 was briefly placed on lockdown just after 3 p.m. Monday, following reports of gunshots fired in the vicinity of Rhode Island and Lowell streets, said Michael J. DeGeorge, a spokesman for Buffalo Police.

The lockdown was lifted just after 4 p.m., though police officers remained present as students were dismissed from school, DeGeorge added.

There were no reports of injuries during the incident.
