The Baylor Project. A2Z. Scott Tixier. The George Scott Big Band.
These are some of the 150 musicians scheduled to perform at the 2017 CMC Jazz Fest presented by M&T Bank.
This year’s event is part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the historic Colored Musicians Club – a union hall for black musicians at a time when unions were segregated. It has an interactive museum on the first-floor and a second-floor club that hosted jazz greats like Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat “King” Cole and Billie Holiday. Scott is president of the club, located at 145 Broadway.
Mayor Byron W. Brown joined musicians on Friday to announce the main acts for this year’s festival, which runs from July 24 through 29. The venues include the club, Larkin Square, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center and Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
