$55,000 fire on Kamper Avenue off Seneca Street

Buffalo Fire Department crews got a woman and child safely out of a burning two-story frame house at 87 Kamper Ave. just before 8 p.m. Saturday and extinguished the blaze with no injuries reported.

But what began as a call about a burning garbage tote that was close to the house ended up causing $40,000 damage to the house, which is near Seneca Street, and $15,000 damage to the home's contents before the fire was reported to be out at 8:03 p.m. Investigators are still looking into how the fire in the garbage tote was started.
