Woman arrested for flashing middle finger at police officer

A Niagara Falls woman has been arrested after allegedly giving a city police officer the middle finger.

The woman was standing outside Andy's Quick Stop at 18th and Niagara streets on Wednesday night when the officer, who recognized the woman, was driving by, according to a city police report.

The pair made eye contact, according to the report, and the woman made the obscene hand gesture at the officer before running into the store. It happened at about 7:30 p.m.

"Several parties, including children, were in the area at the time of the incident and appeared to be annoyed and alarmed by [the woman's] actions," the officer wrote in the police report.

Diane D. Pearson, 56, of Pierce Avenue, was handcuffed without incident and charged with disorderly conduct.
