The nonprofit Daily Bread Food Truck is entering its second summer season of offering homemade breakfast specialties from the window of its signature purple truck.
The truck will be parked each Sunday through Labor Day at 4007 Main St., near Eggert Rd., in Eggertsville.
The truck was created to address poverty and hunger in an area of the Amherst Central School District where roughly 60 percent of students live below the poverty line and over 40 percent receive reduced cost or free meals at school.
Two chefs supervise meal planning and food purchases, relying on volunteers to take orders, clean up and help with food prep during the week.
All profits after expenses go toward feeding the hungry in the truck’s off-season. Between October and April, Daily Bread delivered 763 healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals to hungry families.
