Native plant garden 'makeover' coming Friday to East Aurora

Do you want to create your own native plant garden, but you're not sure how?

Sally Cunningham will show all the tips and tricks to do so at an event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Meibohm Fine Arts gallery on Main Street in East Aurora, according to the Western New York Land Conservancy.

Cunningham is a certified nursery and landscape professional and garden writer for The Buffalo News.

After Cunningham's talk, those in attendance will get to put what they've learned to work. Participants at the event will be able to landscape the outside of the gallery with some of the native plants they just learned about like butterfly weed, coneflower, bee balm and others.

The gallery's "native plant garden makeover" is part of Meibohm's aims to teach landowners how they can help local ecosystems by learning about the importance of native plantings and installing their own.

Pre-registration and a $20 fee is required for the event. It can be done at
