Former Niagara Falls City Councilwoman Candra C. Thomason and political newcomers Amber S. Hill-Donhauser and Nicholas A. Baio have announced campaigns for the City Council in this year's elections.
Thomason, a Republican who served on the Council from 2002-05 and ran for mayor in 2007, said she wants to speak up for residents who feel ignored or forgotten by City Hall. "They've had it. They're fed up," she said.
Hill-Donhauser, a Democrat, said she believes she is the first Native American to run for the Council. She is president of Hill Financial Group. She called for economic stimulus, fiscal responsibility and transparency with taxpayers.
Baio, a Democrat who heads a consulting business, called for expanding the Council from five to seven members and creating a deputy mayor position.
