VERSHAY, Donald A.

VERSHAY - Donald A. Donald A. Vershay, who described himself as "Blessed and Lucky", died peacefully in his Snyder home on June 7, 2017, at the age of 83. He was survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia (Brisbane); daughter Donna Vershay Duvall (John) of Potomac, MD; daughter Deanna Donnelly (Scott) of Barrington, RI; predeceased by his son Scott (Mary) of Buffalo; and eight grandchildren Mandy, Patricia, and Sprigg Duvall, Joseph, Megan, and Jack Donnelly; and Madalyn and Wilson Vershay. Donald graduated from Avon High School in 1952 and attended technical lumber classes at the University of Tennessee in Memphis which started a lifelong career in the hardwood lumber industry. He worked at Wood & Brooks in Buffalo and in 1971 formed Donver, Inc. in Kill Buck, NY, a lumber processing and flooring plant. He enjoyed his family and friends, bridge, cooking, boating, car racing, golf, and Buffalo sports. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11 AM in Amherst Community Church in Snyder, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Amherst Community Church, 77 Washington Hwy., Snyder, NY or University of Buffalo, Anatomical Gift Program, 3435 Main St., Buffalo, NY.
