The popular Tonawanda restaurant, bar and music venue Shannon Pub announced via a Facebook post Sunday evening it is closing its doors.
Next weekend fans of the pub will have an opportunity to grab a pint of Guinness there for a "waking." The weekend will kick off on Friday with a performance from The Druids, a band from Ireland. Then the bar will close its doors Saturday.
The post said the closure can be blamed on "the minimum wage, global warming, German restaurants, Dodd-Frank, whatever."
Shannon Pub is a sponsor of the annual Buffalo Irish Festival, which it says will go on as planned. The pub also planned an annual trip to Ireland, which will also go on.
This was Shannon Pub's third location in the Buffalo area since it opened in 1981.
Despite the bad news, fans of the establishment were given a glimmer of hope in the Facebook post – there may be a fourth location someday.
