A 20-year-old man riding an all-terrain vehicle was in critical condition in Erie County Medical Center on Sunday after crashing overnight in a field, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office reported.
Deputies were called at 7:45 a.m. Sunday by a friend who reported that Cullen Dwyer had been riding his ATV alone and did not return home. The friend and another person went out searching on ATVs, deputies said. Dwyer was found a short time later in the field near railroad tracks off West Street in Sanborn, semi-conscious and non-responsive to both deputies and EMS personnel, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Dwyer was treated at the scene by Sanborn Fire Company and Tri-Community Ambulance personnel before being transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC. Deputies said he had not been wearing a helmet.
