Lockport apartment complex fire quickly put out with no injuries

LOCKPORT – A fire reported in one apartment in the apartment complex in the 5700 block of Oxford Lane  was quickly put out by the South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company about 6 p.m. Saturday, but the investigation of the cause continues, according to Sheriff James R. Voutour.

After the Niagara County Sheriff's Office got the call about the fire, a crew was sent to the scene. The blaze was confined to one apartment. The lone occupant of that apartment was safely evacuated, as were occupants of other apartments in the complex.

As of late Saturday night the cause of the fire remained under investigation by the Niagara County Origin and Cause Unit. No financial estimate of the damage had been made.
