Team River Runner's local chapter has been practicing adaptive kayaking, first on dry land, then at a local high school pool.
Sunday the group is ready for open water, and is inviting members of the public who might want to take part in the activity to go to Green Lake in Orchard Park.
The kayak, paddles and life jacket will be provided from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lake at Yates Park, 200 N. Lake Drive. The program is presented by Western New York Adaptive Water Sports and Orchard Park Recreation. There will be experts available to help.
WNY Adaptive Water Sports has fishing, sailing, scuba diving and water skiing for people with disabilities, and recently added kayaking. The kayak program has become a chapter of Team River Runner, a national organization that provides paddling opportunities for wounded veterans and their families.
