Amherst officials have recommended 62 parcels in the town for the location of a new substance abuse clinic.
All the parcels are at least 500 feet from a residential district and at least 500 feet from a public park, school, library or playground.
"These restrictions allow numerous properties in the Audubon Industrial Park, Northpointe Park and Wehrle Drive Industrial Park," said Building Commissioner Brian P. Andrzejewski.
Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz last week challenged the town to come up with a suitable alternative location for Catholic Health System's proposed clinic where methadone will be distributed.
Town officials and residents have objected to Catholic Health's preferred site, 910 Millersport Highway, which borders North Ivyhurst Road.
In a June 8 letter to Poloncarz, Supervisor Barry A. Weinstein told Poloncarz, "We would be pleased to work with Catholic Health if it is requested."
