A summer movie tradition returns to Bacchus Wine Bar

There are a number of summer outdoor movie series, but it’s unlikely there is another like the Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant summer film series. The downtown restaurant holds screenings in its lovely back patio area every Wednesday through the end of September.

This year’s lineup is predictably diverse, with everything from Woody Allen’s classic “Annie Hall” to the propulsive, Quentin Tarantino-scripted “True Romance.” The majority of films are geared toward adults, and that makes the Bacchus series unique.

Here's the  full lineup:

  • June 14: “The Outsiders”
  • June 21: “Annie Hall”
  • June 28: “American Beauty”
  • July 5: “Chicago”
  • July 12: “True Romance”
  • July 19: “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”
  • July 26: “Hoosiers”
  • Aug. 2: “Million Dollar Baby”
  • Aug. 9: “Dirty Dancing”
  • Aug. 16: “The Godfather Part II”
  • Aug. 23: “For Your Eyes Only”
  • Aug. 30: “The Departed”
  • Sept. 6: "Psycho”
  • Sept. 13: “Moulin Rouge”
  • Sept. 20: “Gran Torino”
  • Sept. 27: “Road to Perdition”

Bacchus Film Series: Movies start at dusk Wednesdays through September at Bacchus (56 W. Chippewa St.). Visit
