Promoting coal industry is a huge step backward
At my age, coal furnaces are a memory – black smoke rising from every home; the air polluted with soot. In California, the smog created by dirty emissions was sickening and literally blocked out the sun. We still see people in major Chinese cities wearing masks to protect from industrial fumes.
The solution was to convert furnaces to natural gas and force the auto industry to install pollution control. Ignoring the polluters to protect corporate profits disregards the lessons of the past.
