The Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., is a theatrical jewel less than an hour from Buffalo. In its 56th season, the festival produces 10 or more plays on four stages from April to October. The theater company is inspired by the work of famous Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw. They produce his plays, plays from his era or contemporary plays that reflect Shaw's provocative exploration of society. A trip is made to the Shaw Festival to see Saint Joan, a Shaw play, at the Festival Theatre, Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
