Dawson Field on Columbia Avenue in Depew has been the scene of scores of baseball games for adult teams and league play. Its bullpen, covered dugouts, bleachers and restrooms offer solid amenities to players and fans. It also featured a lighted field with grass and a dirt infield.
But now voters in Depew Union Free School District have green-lighted its sale after voting yes on Proposition 3 in last month's district-wide elections.
The 6.57-acre field was used by Depew High School for varsity baseball games and was the original site of the school's football field.
Plans call for the baseball diamond to be used for one more season through 2018, but Town of Lancaster officials said the diamond's use for 10 dates would not interfere with plans for the sale.
Town officials are first looking to have it appraised before determining the sale price.
