June 7 WNY Driver of the Week – Cody McPherson

Lowdown: McPherson is a talented young driver who won the Sportsman feature race at Freedom Motorsports Park last Friday. The Canadian began his career at age 5 in Go-Karts at Merrittville Speedway with occasional trips to Ransomville. He moved to the Street Stocks at Merrittville and Humberstone and the Thunder Stocks at Ohsweken Speedway starting when he was 13. McPherson next ventured into the Sportsman at various local tracks on both sides of the border when he turned 17. McPherson has achieved many wins and championships at every level of competition he has raced in.

Accomplishments: McPherson is the 2012 Mr. Sportsman Super DIRT Series champion as well as Sportsman season point co-championship in 2015 at Ransomville. McPherson also claimed two Sportman titles at Humberstone and four at Merrittville. McPherson chalked up Go-Kart championships at Merrittville in Novice, Junior I and Junior II. Once in Street Stocks McPherson claimed checkered flags at Merrittville, Humberstone and Ohsweken. He earned the 2008 Ohsweken Thunder Stock title.

Favorite Music: "Anything country".

Hobbies: "All racing, all the time." Also enjoys spending time with wife Amber and daughter Aliyah, age 5.
