New York State Police have charged a Wellsville woman with aggravated driving while intoxicated in connection to a crash involving a state police vehicle.
Betty Lewis, 73, arrested Wednesday, is accused of crashing into an unmarked police car on Route 417 shortly before 4:30 p.m. April 26, state police said.
According to investigators, Lewis failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Route 417 and Madison Street. Her 2008 Ford Escape struck the police vehicle driven by Investigator Rodney Perry, which was heading south on Route 417.
Lewis' blood-alcohol content was found to be 0.21 percent after the crash, police said.
Lewis and Perry were taken to Jones Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. The police vehicle did not have its emergency lights activated before or during the collision, according to police.
Police issued Lewis an appearance ticket for Wellsville Village Court. No charges will be filed against Perry, police said.
