Lockport winery needs town approval for rock concert

Spring Lake Winery intends to host a rock concert Aug. 18, but it needs town approval first.

The Town of Lockport Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. June 20 in Town Hall, 6560 Dysinger Road, on a permit for "Live at Spring Lake." The Rochester Road winery planned a Lou Gramm concert last summer, but it was called off because a parking arrangement couldn't be made.

This time, the winery has a deal in place to run shuttle buses to and from the Niagara County Fairgrounds, promoter Tom Terry said. No parking will be allowed at the winery or along Rochester Road.

Between 1,000 and 2,000 tickets will be offered for the show by Badfish, a Sublime tribute band. Winery owner Tamre Varallo said she hopes to hold three concerts a year in future years.
