Houdaille Industries was founded in 1925 at 537 East Delavan Ave. by Maurice Houdaille, inventor of the double-action rotary shock absorber. Houdaille Industries manufactured shock absorbers, auto parts, machine tools and other steel products. The building is slated for demolition to make way for a Buffalo Billion project to create a workforce development complex.
