Erie Community College trustees deliberated for about 2 ½ hours Wednesday morning before deciding on their choice for 11th president of the college.
The name of the candidate, which was not released, will now be forwarded to State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
The 10-member board of trustees met in executive session in a board room at ECC's City Campus to determine a successor to Jack F. Quinn Jr. from among four finalists. Quinn is set to retire at the end of this month after nine years as president.
The four finalists were: Janine E. Janosky, dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Dearborn; Dan Hocoy, associate vice chancellor for advancement for the Antioch University System; Matthew Reed, vice president for learning at Brookdale Community College; and George W. Swan III, former vice chancellor with the Wayne County Community College District.
ECC trustees also named Richard Washousky, executive vice president of academic affairs, to serve as interim president if there is a gap between the time Quinn leaves office and the new president starts.
William D. Reuter, the college's longtime chief administrative and financial officer who served as interim president during the last presidential transition at the college, is leaving ECC to become vice president for administration and finance at Hudson Valley Community College.
Zimpher and her staff will review the ECC trustees' nomination and forward it to the SUNY Board of Trustees, which is scheduled to meet in public session June 21.
