Amazon postings for jobs in Buffalo fuels speculation

Amazon has not yet confirmed that it is planning to open a new distribution facility in Western New York, but the Seattle-based internet retailer has started advertising for job openings in Buffalo.

According to postings on its own employment page and on that of, is currently seeking people to fill the positions of HR business partner, senior staffing coordinator and operations administrative assistant.

All three are in human resources. The first position was initially posted in late March, but the other two were added this week.

The retailing powerhouse is reportedly planning to occupy a vacant former Ahold USA warehouse in Lancaster that is owned by Benderson Development Co.

The Lancaster Town Board this week approved a building permit for Benderson for interior demolition and renovation of the 525,000-square-foot warehouse at 4201 Walden Ave., but town officials would not confirm the identity of Benderson's client, other than to say it was a "very high-profile tenant."
