GERMAIN, Lt. Col. John T. Retired United States Marine Corps

GERMAIN - Lt. Col. John T. Ret. United States Marine Corps Of Jacksonville, NC, age 64, passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2017, in the comfort of his home after a year-long battle with brain cancer. Lt. Colonel John T. Germain is survived by his wife, Susan and two children: Ryan and Heidi Germain. He also left behind his two brothers and sister: Charles, Frank and Cheryl Germain. Lt. Colonel John T. Germain grew up in Boston, NY and has been a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills ever since. As a child, he learned to play the drums and as a young adult toured with the band, Fancy Colors, among others. After he joined the United States Marine Corps he began his journey as a runner. Over the 30 plus years of running, he has completed 110 full marathons and countless other 5k, 10k and half marathon races. He was involved in the growth and development of Hope for the Warriors contributing countless hours to the success of the budding non-profit. Lt. Colonel John T. Germain is a highly decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps. His leadership, mentorship and ability to persevere through obstacles are legendary. Lt. Colonel John Germain's spirit and legacy are immeasurable and will live on in the community and in our hearts. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7th from 6-8 PM, memorial services will be held Thursday, June 8th from 11-12 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NC 28540. He will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be announced. The Germain family will also be organizing a celebration of life in the coming weeks and will send information as soon as possible.
