A Buffalo firefighter faces charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license, according to police.
Roderick Peoples was off duty May 16 when he was stopped by officers on East End Avenue at Atwood Place after they determined his 2010 Ford Edge's registration was suspended. Police said they observed marijuana in the vehicle and arrested the 42-year-old Peoples, who works at Engine 36.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell W. Whitfield Jr. said he is looking into the situation.
"If this is confirmed, I will require the firefighter to submit to drug testing, seek counseling and possibly impose disciplinary action," Whitfield said.
