Brad Angelo bowled a 230 in his final game for a 735 single series and took over the lead in All-Events with 2,176 pins at the 2017 United States Bowling Congress Open Championship at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas. He needed 177 in his final game to take the lead from Jacob Boresch of Kenosha, Wis., who bowled 2,122 on March 4.
Angelo, 47, bowled 723 in team and, paired with recent University at Buffalo graduate Andrew Herbert, shot 718 in doubles. Angelo and Herbert stand in third place in doubles with 1,428 total.
"I knew I was bowling well, but I honestly had no idea what I needed and just wanted to keep throwing good shots and adding to it," said Angelo, who made his 23rd appearance on the championship lanes.
