Woman whose Falls hotel room was cleaned before checkout missing $6,200

A Rochester woman on Sunday told Niagara Falls police that she discovered more than $6,200 missing from a bag in her room at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.

The woman told police she went back to her room about a half-hour before her checkout time to find the hotel room had been cleaned and her property turned over to casino security, according to a Niagara Falls police report.

She recovered her items from security, but the bag in question no longer contained the money. The woman had other documentation "showing that approximately $6,200 in U.S. currency was contained within the papers that had been tampered with," an officer wrote in the report.
