Bill Murray will turn serious for Buffalo event

Buffalo audiences will get to see comedian and actor Bill Murray in a serious, new light.

Murray and cellist Jan Vogler will present an evening of literature and chamber music in "New Worlds" at 8 p.m. Oct. 11 in Kleinhans Music Hall.

The event features Murray reading from the works of such literary greats as Walt Whitman and Mark Twain while Vogler and his trio - violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez - perform chamber music to "communicate America's core values."

"The program seeks to illuminate the ties between great American authors and composers, and explores how they reinvented European traditions in music and literature to create a wholly American aesthetic," a release said about the event.

Tickets are $59-$99 and go on sale at 10 a.m. June 9 (Kleinhans box office, or by calling 885-5000). Platinum VIP packages are $250 and include premium seating, a poster, and an exclusive meet-and-greet. The BPO will not perform at this event.
