3 firefighters hurt battling Black Rock blaze

Three Buffalo firefighters suffered minor injuries battling an overnight house fire in Black Rock.

The fire at 148 Hertel Ave., just west of Tonawanda Street, was reported at 12:18 a.m. Monday, according to the Buffalo Fire Department Alarm Office. The fire started on the first floor and extended into the attic of the 2 1/2-story building, the Alarm Office said.

The cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, was under investigation.

It was not clear whether anyone was living inside the home, the fire department said.
