"Climate change is a global challenge requiring immediate attention," Brown said in a statement posted to Facebook and Twitter. "I am proud to have signed on to the US Climate Alliance and the US Conference of Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement. In Buffalo, we stand in solidarity with leaders from across the country in condemning President Trump's retreat from the Paris Agreement and reaffirm our commitment to the global community fighting climate change."

In protest of Trump's decision, an "emergency rally" in support of the Paris climate agreement has been scheduled for Saturday in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo.

The event is sponsored by the March for Science and the WNY Peace Center.

"The president just pulled the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement. Policymakers must know the community cares about the environment and children's futures, and will be heard! This will be a calm and peaceful protest," organizers said in a statement announcing the rally.
