Citizens Bank plans to move downtown branch

Citizens Bank plans to move a downtown branch from the ground floor of the Liberty Building to 6 Fountain Plaza.

The shift is expected to take place this fall. Letters about the move are scheduled to be sent to customers June 9, and the bank will share more details after that, said Lauren DiGeronimo, a spokeswoman for the Rhode Island-based bank.

The new location at 6 Fountain Plaza, which is in the same block as the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, is only two blocks north of the branch's current home. The Liberty Building location was formerly a Charter One branch; Citizens Bank's parent company bought Charter One in 2004.
