Letter: Vietnam nurse’s legacy lives on at Naval Park

Vietnam nurse’s legacy lives on at Naval Park

The May 27 My View tribute to a fallen nurse inspires this letter. Aboard USS Little Rock there is a Vietnam War memorial. In a corner of the exhibit, a mannequin displays an Army nurse’s field uniform. A large poster portrays oversized “dog tags” with the caption, “Not all women wore love beads.” Period newspaper articles accompany a write-up paying tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of Eleanor Grace Alexander.

In Vietnam all gave some, some gave all. Capt. Alexander’s legacy lives on.
