The Erie County Medical Center’s immediate plan for the Kensington Heights property is to use a portion of the land as a parking lot, a hospital spokesman said.
The hospital has no further plans for the 16.8-acre tract at this time, but isn’t ruling out future development, said spokesman Peter K. Cutler.
“While ECMC has no additional development plans for the Kensington Heights site, any additional development on that property will be done in close collaboration with our community neighbors,” Cutler said.
The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority Tuesday voted to sell the Kensington Heights property off Fillmore Avenue, adjacent to the county hospital, to ECMC for $1.45 million. The sale is contingent upon an environmental study of the site.
The county hospital needs more parking because of ongoing construction of a new $45 million Emergency Department on hospital grounds, Cutler said.
