Channel Mother Nature at Reinstein Woods event June 10

Unleash your native spirit and head for the woods – Reinstein Woods – for a late spring day of exploration, exhilaration and free fun.

Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages may test their skills at orienteering, geocaching and a birding challenge trail during a special community day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10 at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, 93 Honorine Drive off Como Park Boulevard in Cheektowaga.

Activities like jumping rope and chalk art also will be available for the traditional gamer. Expect face painting and balloon animals from the Town of Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation Department. After you've worked up an appetite, feast at an assortment of food trucks including House of Munch and Yogurt Shack.

Families are encouraged to continue the fun with an evening of food, music and cars beginning at 5 p.m. in Cheektowaga Town Park.

The event is sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Towns of Amherst and Cheektowaga and Friends of Reinstein Woods.
