Bruce Cavage of Marilla was also fishing on Grassy Lake in Quebec and caught several "blue" walleye in the lake. This was probably a blue color phase of the walleye since blue pike are now considered extinct. Blue pike once inhabited the waters of Lake Erie, the Niagara River and Lake Ontario.

John Farrell of New Jersey was fishing the lower Niagara River this past week when he hooked into this large sucker while drifting a Kwikfish off a three-way rig. The fish was released. Unfortunately, it was probably a state record catch. Capt. Arnie Jonathan of Lockport was charter guy. This was probably a Greater Redhorse and there is no listing in the state for it. It weighed over 11 pounds best guess.
John Van Hoff of North Tonawanda caught this respectable king salmon while fishing off Olcott in front of the Red Barn 60 feet down over 200 feet of water on a spoon on Monday. The bite was slower than it was on Saturday when they boated 7 and lost 7.

Dr. Tom Quinzi of Rochester reeled in this 8.26-pound smallmouth bass on a golden shiner while fishing with Capt. Jim Hanley. The fish was 22-1/4 inches long with a girth of 20 inches. Tom Warter of Virginia took this big smallmouth in Lake Erie while fishing with Capt. Frank Campbell of Niagara Falls. This fish, just under 6 pounds, hit a Strike King coffee tube.

Jack Koch of Canisteo (formerly of Clarence) and Ben Dilorenzo of Amherst fished with Capt. John Gaulke of Finger Lakes Angling Zone on Cayuga Lake and netted six lakers 26-29 inches and a 27-inch land-locked salmon.
