A man is in custody following a domestic incident that turned into a standoff with police Sunday morning at a home in South Buffalo, authorities said.
South District officers were called about 10 a.m. to the first block of Duerstein Street for a report of a man physically assaulting his girlfriend, police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said.
At some point the man barricaded himself inside the home and was believed to possibly be armed with a gun, police said. Buffalo SWAT and the Hostage Management Team were called to the scene.
The standoff ended without incident just after noon when the man, believed to be in his mid-30s, surrendered to police, DeGeorge said. He was transported in police custody to Erie County Medical Center to be evaluated.
Charges against the man are pending, DeGeorge said.
